By air
Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun
The nearest airport with flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and other major cities. Taxis to Rishikesh cost ₹500-800. Pre-paid taxis available at the airport.
By rail
Haridwar Junction / Rishikesh Station
Haridwar Junction is the main railhead with excellent connectivity to Delhi (4-5 hours), Mumbai, and other cities. Rishikesh station has limited service. From Haridwar, shared autos (₹30-40) and taxis (₹400-600) are available.
By road
NH 58 from Delhi
Regular Volvo and state buses from Delhi ISBT Kashmere Gate. Private taxis cost ₹4000-5500. The road passes through Haridwar.
Getting Around
Auto-rickshaw
Main mode of transport for getting between Lakshman Jhula, Ram Jhula, Tapovan, and Rishikesh town. Negotiate fare before boarding.
Shared auto/tempo
Shared autos run fixed routes between Ram Jhula, Lakshman Jhula, and Rishikesh bus stand.
Scooty/bike rental
Two-wheeler rentals available near Lakshman Jhula and Tapovan. Useful for day trips to Neelkanth or Kunjapuri. Indian driving license required.
Walking
The main areas (Lakshman Jhula, Swarg Ashram, Ram Jhula, Tapovan) are walkable. The riverside path from Ram Jhula to Lakshman Jhula is a scenic 3km walk.
Taxi
Available for day trips to Neelkanth, Kunjapuri, Haridwar, and Mussoorie. Book through your hotel or at the taxi stand.
